Who is Elmo?
Elmo is arguably the most favourite Muppet character from the popular and long running children’s television program, Sesame Street. Elmo has all the ingredients to be a child’s favourite, he is small, bright red in colour, has the cutest voice (especially his laugh) and is always singing, laughing and ready to play.

What is Tickle Me Elmo?
Tickle Me Elmo is a children’s soft toy first brought out in 1996 by Fisher Price. This was no ordinary soft toy though, when you gave Elmo a squeeze he would let off a short burst of laughter. If you squeezed him 3 times, the toy would shake and Elmo would laugh uncontrollably. I have experience this for myself and even as an adult it is hysterical to witness. Tickle Me Elmo ended up being the “it” toy of 1996 and has inevitably led to many versions (including other Sesame street characters) of the popular toy since then. The latest version is called, T.M.X Elmo eXtra Special Edition and 11 years later it does a lot more than laugh and shake.

T.M.X Elmo eXtra Special Edition
This latest version from the Tickle Me Elmo range was released in time for Christmas 2007 and contains some of the features of the original like squeezing Elmo to make him laugh and shake. This version has a lot more features and hidden surprises, but there is a twist.

These new features can only be unlocked once Elmo has been played with, posed and tickled in the right sequence. What your child needs to do is find special clues which will gives hints to movement combinations in order to unlock the new features. The first clue is provided when you purchase your new T.M.X Elmo. This clue reads as:

A silly surprise can be found,
something with a musical sound!
Just lift Elmo’s arm straight in the air,
then find his belly and tickle him there!

So obviously to unlock this musical feature you would lift Elmo’s arm up in the air and then tickle his belly. Sounds like fun to me.

The T.M.X Elmo eXtra Special edition is suitable for those aged over 18 months. Kids of all ages (that includes you Mum and Dad) will have hours of fun and laughter trying to unlock all the special features T.M.X Elmo has to offer. The toy does require 6 AA batteries to operate but the first 6 are included.
